This club was still being built as a cinema when the First World War broke out, and it became an aircraft factory . It opened as the King’s Cross Cinema in 1920, which closed in 1974.
Halloween all-nighter, better than expected! Only £6 ticket in advance, music venue turned club for the night so pretty big dance space. Loved the mix of indie, throwbacks but also more rnb/ mixes.
Try the great top balcony view (when it's open) for those quieter gigs where you'd rather get away from the sweaty hordes in the crowd below.
Lots of stairs (scala means staircase in Latin) bring flat shoes !!
Get there on time to get a good view otherwise you'll be looking at the backs of people's heads all night. Great sound though.
Very intimate location and still very central! Although £6 for a can of RedStripe..seriously!?
Fabulous place for live music featuring some of the best up and coming bands :-)
Follow the sign for the toilets and keep going up stairs to a bar overlooking the stage. Quieter and great view .
The bar at the top is often quieter than all the others. View of the stage from the rail on the second level is great
If you're doing the rebel bingo then make sure you interact with the black Russel brand outside to get VIP stamps - otherwise drinks are a pain!! :)
Although the venue has vacillated between use as a picturehouse and concert hall the Scala’s one consistent trait has been its lack of respect for authority. Read more
Enjoyed the concert , but the venue is too small... Also too much bass... too much waiting time in a very long queue to collect the tickets... Could have been more organised I reckon..
Best oasis cover ever!
Be aware that this venue has a standing location only. So don't wear those highly uncomfortable heels ladies!
very good concert venue
Went to see Litmus play here and there are lots of stairs , the venue is quite quaint and there is seating in the bar area by the window. Odd layout.
Bo Ningen are awesome...
Popstarz back at the scala for the first time in ages. It should come back permanently.
Try to avoid using the cloak room unless you're prepared to wait a loooong time to leave
Inside layout designed by MC Escher.
Cloak room is a mess and beer is expensive if you ask me. Anyhow, ok venue.
Here for the #NINScala gig? Let me know how it goes! <aclass="entity url"rel="nofollow" href="http://www.twitter.com/thatwouldbealex"target="_blank" data-sig="kMJQf8O2OkBtfIkGbRheyHY4xXU=" onmousedown="fourSq.ui.OutgoingLink.mousedown($(this), event)" data-source="tip-text">www.twitter.com/thatwouldbealex</a>
This place has more stairs than the final scene of The Labyrinth!
Not only is La Scala home to loads of gigs but it also hosts the monthly emo/hardcore clubnight Facedown. Dare you not to feel too old.
Decent sound
Great venue!
Nice venue. Too bad the toilets were kinda small and cramp.
