Old Stone House

During the Battle of Brooklyn , 260 Maryland troops held off more than 2,000 British soldiers so that the rest of the Continental Army could retreat over the Gowanus. Less than a dozen survived.

In August of 1776, the American Revolution erupted in Brooklyn. The first, and largest, conflict of the War, the Battle of Brooklyn included sites now occupied by The Old Stone House and Prospect Park

Despite the fact that they are located right next to a children's playground and a kids sports field , they will kick you and your children off of their lawn in the most snotty way.

Call ahead to just stop by. Tiny place, not a lot to see, but you get to hold an original musket if you want.

This park was once the site of Washington Park , home of the Brooklyn Dodgers. In the 1880's, park owners flooded the field and turned it into a skating rink , where people often played baseball on ice.
