Vegetarian options : specialised stall, soya beancurd , yutiao, baos , rice with vege , local desserts , chai tow kway (fried carrot cake ), muffins , yong tau foo , prata , thosai, peanut porridge , more

Cheen The Curious

Chai tow kway (fried carrot cake ). When u got craving & cannot wait, Carrot Cake 26 is the alternative to highly popular Chey Sua. They also offer the black sauce version✌????

Cheen The Curious

Premium nasi lemak , with garlic pork ($6.80). Unsure if I’d order again. Sambal was sweet & not overly spicy . Fried pork was easy to eat but not savoury. Served with achar & ikan bilis

Cheen The Curious

Briyani . Enjoyed a chicken briyani ($3.90) from JJ Indian Cuisine #02-19. Aromatic curry . Chicken drumstick thoroughly cooked. Stall has egg or mutton options too. Available fr 11:30am

Cheen The Curious

3-in-1 Noodles . Look For Mee #02-21 recommended it. For $3.50, u get pork (braised & boiled), fried wantan, fishball, fishcake slices, stewed mushroom slices, beansprouts. Eclectic but unimpressed

Cheen The Curious

Roast meats . Surprisingly tasty roast duck & pork from Hong Kong Lung Hwa 02-18. Smoky, juicy, & full of marinate. Served with vegetables at no extra charge

Cheen The Curious

Fried Hokkien prawn noodles . Tian Tian Lai #02-27 cooks up very wet and tasty plates. Expect long waits . Deserves its status as one of the best in Singapore ????

Cheen The Curious

Home-style dishes with rice . Dishes from economy rice stall Curry Cooked Rice & Porridge #02-06 were comforting. Enjoyed my plate. Stall run by middle-aged couple

Nicole Ong

Deanna's Kitchen halal prawn noodles - as good as the Chinese version! Rich broth with depth and big juicy prawns . ???????? ????

Cheen The Curious

Epok epok (curry puff ). Perdana Muslim #02-36 sells them for 80-cents each, a slight premium compared to usual 50- to 70-cents. Skin was thin & crispy . Potato-only filling was tasty but lacks aroma

Low CQ

Supreme Pork Chop Rice (一品排骨)is now available at Blk 127 Lorong 1 #02-19. Used to be only available in Middle Road , now you can also enjoy it if you are in Toa Payoh.

Cheen The Curious

Mini shou tao (longevity buns ). Teochew Handmade Pau #02-02 offers this alternative to birthday cakes , for the elderly to reminisce traditional practice. Call to order

Ting

Airy design. Good for typical local heartland breakfast . Carrot cake and kopi kow are the highlights.

Joey Lim

One of the best food center to eat local. They house the most traditional local taste that was pass down from generations before.

Cheen The Curious

Thunder tea rice . Delicious & crunchy bowl from Traditional Hakka Lui Cha #02-49. Lots of vege . Not unnecessarily salty

Cheen The Curious

Wantan mee . Joo Heng 02-12. Noodles had bitter aftertaste. Their wantan filling recipe uses a lot of pepper . Char siew cooked with an portable electric oven, lacking the smokiness

Cheen The Curious

Ban Mian. Basic preparation from Fried Fish Soup #02-24. Because the stall sells sliced fish soup , my bowl had unique toppings of fried silky egg . Soup was clear & bland

Sengaporean

Try the daily come Hokkien mee , chey Sua carrot cake and fish soup (#02-08)

Hancong Leong

Today happen to be there to buy their cookies . Went there only realize not enough money, the owner asked me to return him next time I see him. Good service 10/10

Cheen The Curious

Chai tow kway (fried carrot cake ). Chey Sua #02-30 offers tasty white-only dishes. Long waiting times as cook is meticulous

Shannon Chow

Must try Teow Chew handmade bao (order 1 each or a dozen) (#02-2) and Fried hokkien mee (#02-27)

Cheen The Curious

Mee siam . Enjoyed a spicy sour bowl from Perdana Muslim #02-36. $3

Cheen The Curious

Water cooler next to wash basins (there are 4 at this end) beside the lift lobby

Cheen The Curious

Beancurd . Not as impressed with the dessert from Pure Soya Bean #02-28 as I was with their soya milk . It lacks aroma

Cheen The Curious

Soya milk . Thick & aromatic cup from Pure Soya Bean #02-28. $1.20

C

Prawn mee . Worth your wait, worth your money and worth your chewing. Just go by 1 pm or else it might be sold out

Cheen The Curious

Economy rice / caifan. No outstanding dishes from Sheng Heng #02-31

Cheen The Curious

Working Monday lunch . Most food stalls were closed. I counted only 9 were selling meals. U r better off visiting the 4 kopitiams nearby

Food ^_* Diva

Most stalls have there for 20 yrs & more. Bak Chor mee , Fishball noodles , Fish porridge , Vegetarian , etc etc. It's a place for good food at down-to-earth prices!

Cheen The Curious

Fishball noodles . 135 Fishball Noodle #02-11 may hv lots of newspaper mentions but I find his fishballs too firm/hard for my liking

M

what makes or breaks for me for fish soup besides no 'xingwei' is the chilli and the soup . 02-08's fish soup was quite enjoyable.

PowLook Yap

Good food here : chey Shah carrot cake , porridge , tea from the stall near to the carrot cake stall

Cheen The Curious

Kway chap . Da Cheng Kway Chap #02-14 sees long queues but we were unimpressed with quality and flavours

Cheen The Curious

Congee . Smooth congee from 88粥品 #02-29 but was disappointed that meatballs had a lot of fat and floor fillers

Yap Steven

The tian tian lai fried prawn noodles is simply fantastic. Must try.

Cheen The Curious

Chicken Rice . Basic decent preparation from Heng Li (Henry) Hainanese Chicken Rice #02-16

Leo C.

Looks desolate at 5pm on a Saturday; most stalls were closed. You should definitely come early.

Angela Chan

Chey Sua Carrot Cake here is highly recommended! Most delicious carrot cake I've ever tried. Bet you'll be back for more :)

Anna

Try the kway chap here! It's nice! You can choose between nyo hiang, pigs intestine and qiam chai ! My fav is nyo hiang. Hmmm..yum! Stall: 大成棵汁, #02-14

Anna

The carrot cake is the best! Crunchy texture and stands out from the rest. An original of the original!

Hui Shan

Da Cheng kway chap ! #02-14! Buy individual set if you are instead of telling them for 2(or more person) cos individual serving seems to have larger quantity!

Sean Yang

Must try #02-08 fish soup . No MSG! Thus very healthy. Tasty and I love here!!!!!!! Aunty and uncle also super nice.

Kenny Nair

Fair amount of food offerings but got to go before 1400hrs as most shops are near closing time after that.

SK Lee

"western food " 02-25 has great western food . Must try! Fish n chips are very good!

Cheryl Li

Try Henry's Hainanese Chicken Rice :D Tender chicken and very aromatic rice ! ^^

Kit&kafoodle

Fish porridge isn't bad from the two competing stores. The muffins aren't bad and cooked damn fresh. Came here for the Hokkien mee but the store was closed :(

Pohui Ko

Plenty of gd food here, but pls spread the word by mouth instead of appear on TV , the hokkien mee appeared on 抢摊大行动collapse eventually after the failure to cope with public demand

Cheen The Curious

Only 20%-25% of stalls are open on Monday mornings ????

AA Mak

The lemon sauce chicken chop next to the Hokkien Mee is quite unique.

invenue

Teochew handmade pau is 60 cents per piece. The porridge is also good!
