Great place to chill out in the shade. Pull up a seat in front of the historical video presentation. PLUS there's a restroom with 3 toilets (!), and bubblers to fill up your water bottle for free!
The park is well-maintained and run by very friendly Rangers. The old bath house building is the best place to start your park visit.
Very cool (and at least on my visit - quiet ) piece of history in the middle of an uber touristy area. Learn all about these ship's histories while enjoying great bay views .
Beautiful end to the piers and transition to a park area with good views of historic sailing ships and a Steam Boat. Also a cable train station nearby.
Get the Golden Age pass if you're considers a "senior citizen" (67+ up?) and save a lot of money!
Visiting Hyde Street Pier is the absolute best way to get acquainted with the history of San Francisco. After walking the pier , walk across the street to the Argonaut Hotel and Visit the museum !
Visitor center is pretty interesting historical context. Plus their bathrooms are public and clean
The place to take your girl for a walk in the sunset . Cold but, that's part of the magic.
Make sure you get early to get that one of the free parking places right on the beach 72 hrs! There are few 4 hrs parking for free as well ....!
Watch the cool video in the visitor's center on the history of the harbor . It is shown on a cool mini-Imax type screen.

love the dilapidated pier a la stalingrad... it really demonstrates how weathering & erosion ages the city .
Take a ride on the cable car if you're a tourist . Otherwise, save your $5 and take the Muni for $2 a block away.
