Bring a blanket. A perfect place to relax but the grass is often damp. Fleece blankets sold across the street at the gift shop for only $10.

It's really nice to just sit at the beach and just relax and listen to the sound of the waves. In my honest opinion, it's best part of San Francisco you can visit.

The perimeter swim is just under a mile and is worth it for the marin/bridge view at the entrance Park at the end of van ness (4 hour parking ) vs. the warf side.
