I must say that I had a really happy time in Lisbon. Specially when we talk about food. Dinner at Bairro do Avillez was a great experience. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Simply PERFECT
Tried the tapas concept and everything was very good, from the tuna to the mushroom and dry tomatoes salad , as well as the picanha. Well decorated tavern with lots of Portuguese food references.
Go for theTaberna and forget Bairro do Avillez itself, which is definitely not money worth it! Food in Taberna is delicious and yummy can't say the same thing about the other! Get the sardine tartar !
Everything we tried was really good; lettuce wraps , cod , chorizo bread and beef croquettes . But the octopus was the best! Better to make a reservation but you can have a nice drink while you wait
Really nice and chilled restaurant close to Bairro Alto... Food was really good, I had the Iberico Pork - slightly more expensive than the traditional restaurants close by but worth the money
One of the best restaurants we were at for our honeymoon. It was my bday that day as well and they gave us free chocolate cake which was incredible. Sea bass was exquisite!
Eve-ry-thing ! I would recommend the Portuguese charcuterie and cheese platter for starters and the octopus as a small dish. Waiters are of good advice and the atmosphere is very pleasant.
Very friendly staff ! We had the beefsteak and the tuna sandwich , both were great! Definitely come here for great food and atmosphere! Price for sandwiches and drinks was 26€
Starters are delicious. Main courses with fish and seafood are at acceptable levels. Main courses with meat are outstanding.
The food here is amazing. They stop serving at midnight so it's great for a late dinner before you go bar hopping. Get the octopus , tuna steak , and cod lettuce wrap !
Restaurant with a focus on fish (but meat lovers will definitely find something as well ).Our rating: Beef tartar - 3/5, crab filling - 5/5, caramel latte - 5/5, beef croquet - 5/5, octopus salad - 4/5
Wonderful food selection. We ordered Squid with black rice , Mariscos , Bakalao, and the spicy Peri-peri chicken . We shares with the food we ordered and filled us up.
A multi-space gastronomic experience inspired by the best Portuguese flavors. The most atypical and surprising of Lisbon's neighborhoods !
Great place, we ate in the Taberna , lettuce leaf dishes, octopus , tuna and the exploding olives were standouts with a very good all round wine list as well , we had an excellent Gewürztraminer
Atmosphere, the waiters , the food and the entire concept of getting several small mixed plates to share is super nice. You can really taste the quality and love that went Into each dish!
There’s nothing better than staring at the open kitchen while they prepare your food. Love the steak , wine selection and the atmosphere! Long wait for a table around dinner time (as in most places)
The lettuce heart was very good and the grilled Iberian pork strips were the best pork dish I've had in my life. Didn't order the strips though so the service was both great and not so good.
The octopus dish is the best octopus i have had in my life :) (and i am from an island ) The octopus is cooked perfectly and the sauce is very well-balanced and just simply delicious!
The latest in Lisbon’s upscale food courts , coming from José Avillez. Has different eating areas including a taberna , a gourmet market , a courtyard restaurant with seafood , and a “gourmet cabaret."
The food is so good!! Be sure to get a tasty Vinho Verde, a craft beer , and lots of Iberico Ham . The cod lettuce cup is the best item on the menu!!
Perhaps my expectations were too high, given the José Avillez name. Food was good for sure, but definitely not outstanding. Come here for a relatively “safe” meal.
The cod was really really great. One of the best dishes I had in Lisbon. You have to try the exploding olives too
Well designed interior, unexpectedly small portions, slightly disappointing price-performance... Good to give it a try but I probably wouldn’t go again.
Iberian pork steak , codfish lettuce wrap , suckled pig sandwich , beef croquette were all amazing, a bit expensive but almost everything was perfectly seasoned and delicious.
A bit pricey but tasty, the service is good as well . The best part they seem to be open for the whole day, so if for some reason you are hungry after 16 in Lisbon, check this one out
Pimentos (small peppers ), Gambas , and Steak were great! Really friendly & fast service as well . Highly recommended!
Everything is great! Chef José Avillez has never disappointed us. Both Cantinho do Avillez and Bairro do Avillez were the best restaurants in whole Portugal!!
ate in Taberna (in the beginning we didn’t even realize that there is more than one section). Very good food but a bit pricy . octopus , asparagus , ham are outstanding!
Good service and they are open between 3pm and 7pm which is quite unusual in siesta countries , however, food is below the average. Tried 3 dishes and liked only one of them which was the octopus .
Ate at the Pateo section. Probably the best sea bass I have ever had. The rest of the menu was pretty good too!
Charcuterie and cheese are on point. As is everything else. Enjoy. This place has awesome vibes!
Everything is GREAT but the seafood soup was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G
Great concept. Quality Portuguese good with Chef 's touch, one of the newest projects of famous Jose Avillez. Laid back and fun atmosphere , good food!
Everything is good. Make sure you try the makrel cone
Great high quality restaurant . It's a little pricey but they have a good selection. Try pluma de porco and local charcuteries .
There are 3 restaurants . The ambiance is great. We went there for lunch and only cantina part was open. Beaf steak sandwich was delicious.
OVERRATED! Terrible service and average (to poor) food. Waiters are always too busy to give you any attention. Expect your order to come 20mins before or after the order from whoever came w/ you.
Great service, good cocktails and food was very tasty. Is slightly more expensive then other places for what get.
Very tasty, I loved everything I had. The price is justified by the wonderful taste.
Beautifully put together, great cheeses , ham and beef sandwich . Waiters still a bit lost.
WHY THERE: Portuguese cuisine . STUFF: fine. STAFF : smooth. LOCATION: close to mainstream (convenient). PRICES: high (reasonable)
octopus with garlic and kim-chi sauce is very tasty! the interior is very nice!
We tried 8 small and medium sized dished and all of them were delicious! Salted caramel was awesome.
Nothing but great Portuguese tapas . The octopus , asparagus salad and the cod with lettuce are few dishes you should try. Totally recommend it!
New point from Avillez - two restaurants / taberna is cheaper and more for tapas - try the lettuce wrap with pork meat
One of 6 Restaurants from José Avillez, this one has a focus on Tapas . In any case, order the combined cheese/ham plate.
everything we had was amazing ???? tuna steak is surreal. giant red shrimp as well a must-try.
Everything was amazing - mackerel cone , chocolate salami yum!
Great food, service and ambience. Highly recommended
We shared 4 starters, all very good, but disappointed of the two main courses of Cod fish . Nice ambience.
Fantastic starters, awesome steak sandwich, fries, dessert. - Benjamin Hanau
Can’t miss here. Extremely creative and well executed food with impeccable service to match. Get the ceviche and raw seafood! - Peter Kimboslice
supertasty food! i recommend seafood. note that bring your appetite as the main course portions are big. oh and the service is fantastically smooth even during full house. totally worth a try! - Pello Rauno
Great food, great staff. Friendly and cozy! Worth to go! - Ivona Kastelan
Je be sais quoi!!! Amazing! Delicious and thank you. It’s the best eggplant truffle I’ve had! Yummmm! - Just Me .. @what_food23
pastel de nata. absolutely delicious. strongly recommend. better than the ones in Belem. and they are always freshly baked. - rita
Just amazing view at night time as we going again for the day time to get a good view ???????????????? - Ann Marie Ellison
The fabulous variety of foods. A great opportunity to try the best of Portuguese food makers at reasonable cost. - Marcia Dunsmore
