Fried carrot cake (chai tow kway ). Kampong Carrot Cake #02-53 is a highly-praised stall. Received lots of recognition for this humble dish. Theirs is very egg-y & fried till slightly burnt
Been going to this market since I was a kid. Everything is yummy but my top favourites are chwee kueh , fried carrot cake , 178 lor mee , bao and the specialty fish ball stall!
Char Kway Teow (fried flat rice noodles ). I like mine wet, sweet & savoury. Fried Kway Teow #02-08 serves like that (top pic), compared to neighbouring #02-11 Tiong Bahru Fried Kway Teow (bottom pic)
(5/5) A little out of the way, but definitely my favorite food center. Cleanest and most well organized among the centers I've visited, with the huge open space allowing for far cooler temperatures.
No doubt that the stall that sells the best soya bean milk here is #02-69 Teck Seng Soya Bean Milk . Their soya bean milk is just so fresh, thick & flavorful.
Excellent shui Kueh at the food centre and other nice food. The jewel of the crown for me the the extensive market which has everything. Good for expats too as they stock things not usually found.
Tiong Bahru hainanese boneless chicken rice . Love their chicken , very smooth and mix well with the spicy chilli . They even have ginger sauce on top of their chilli . Overall its 4.5/5. Worth to try.
Vegetarian options : specialty vegetarian , lontong, chwee kueh , chee cheong fun , stuffed beancurd , bao , soya beancurd , yong tau foo , peanut pancake , local snacks & desserts (Teochew, Nonya, et.al)
Fishball noodles . Yummy & traditional serving from Kim Fa #02-65. Noodles were 'q' (springy), fishballs & fishcake slices were tasty. Stall still serves with her giao (fish dumpling ) & la pok
Min Chiang Kueh (peanut pancake ). #02-34 Tiong Bahru Mian Jian Kueh offers brown rice versions (foreground) of this popular snack (more vitamins & minerals). Hints of sweetness compared to normal
Fried prawn fritters . Tian Cheng Food #01-42 sells this local savoury snack , freshly made daily. Oily but delicious till the very last bite
Yu tiao (fried dough sticks, $1). Enjoyed freshly fried ones from #02-59 (Chinese sign). Handmade from 5am! Thick enough to chew, yet has an outer crispy layer. Also makes hum ji peng (salty buns )

Hainanese Chicken Rice #02-47 serves a delightful plate. Meat was well-cooked & served on a bed of bean sprouts & cucumber slices ; skin has chewy texture; an agreeable chilli sauce ; soup was tasty
My favourite one stop shop place where I can grab groceries , coffee powder, flowers on Level 1 to having a variety of local food on Level 2. #bestlocalplace
Tian Tian Lai stall serves the best desserts ever!!! Try their Shaved Ice Mango with Ice-Cream, simply delicious!!! Though the ice is not so fine, but it's laden with mangoes ... Simply worth it... =)
Traditional kaya toast set. L21 Cafe #02-21 is generous with their kaya spread. They even crack the soft-boiled eggs so that you don't create any mess. This set for $3.20
Char kway teow shootout. Sampled A) Tiong Bahru Fried Kway Teow #02-11 &, B) Fried Kway Teow & Fried Oyster #02-08. Preferred B for 'wok hei' (smokiness) & greens
#stervylicious #yongtaufoo - best day!! Had a sinful healthy Yong tau foo - must say taste pretty ordinary but its the Pork Lard that is added that taste Hua ji Fishball noodles . Yong tau Foo /#02-44
Hainanese Curry Rice . Crispy pork chop from Tiong Bahru Hainanese Curry Rice 02-78. Tasty! Stewed cabbage was soft & mushy????????????
Minced meat noodles ($5). While generous with ingredients, sauce was salty from Tiong Bahru Bak Chor Mee #02-77. If u r willing to walk 3 mins, Nan Yuen across at 71 Seng Poh Rd is more fragrant
Wantan noodles : I'm convinced, like @ Lavender , sauce poured over noodles gives d winning flavour :-) Coupled w sweet char siew & generous-sized wantans, dis stall #02-30 rates as 1 of best in SG
So yummy the bak chor mee ! Right amount of chilli & vinegar. The MEAT ball has a hidden treasure inside - like Fuzhou fish ball with meat inside! Must try! #02-77.
Ru Yi Veg Bee Hoon . The best in my personal opinion. Hv bn eating since childhood till now my kids will only eat theirs. There's a copycat stall same row, don't waste $$. Sky high diff.
Thai food . Muen Wang Thai Kitchen #02-04 is a welcome cuisine at this competitive food centre. Homestyle cooking. Enjoyed my plate of Basil Chicken Rice $5
Blanco Court Fried Fish Soup #02-62 - I enjoyed their fried fish slices . Not over-battered and the flavour is tasty. Soup base is not overly tasty, lightly flavoured.
Get the beef noodles from Beef King. It is the best and also the cheapest priced at $3.50. Order the beef tendon side dish too! Its soft and tender, melts in your mouth.
Tiong Bahru Pau's char siew bun is spot on, and needless to say, Lor Mee 178 is a celebrity among this slew of stores, with fans requesting to take photos!
Baos . Our favourite fillings from Tiong Bahru Pau #021-19 are ‘char siew ’ (chopped BBQ pork ) & ‘lei ngiong’ (sweet lotus seed paste)
Very attractive hawker center with some seriously great food on offer. I could have kept going back to the char siew stall for more. The teochew kueh is a flavorful if oily treat.
Awesome food here. Nice spacious seating . Clean and tidy. High ceiling lots of air so wasn't too hot inside. Highly recommend this place.
Soya bean milk : Teck Seng #02-69. Never had 2 q 10mins (on Sun) 4 dis healthy drink. But wait was worth it(?). Milk was thick, fragrant, flavourful. No regrets. In my list of fave stalls in dis mkt
Lots of Michelin-featured stalls here. Enjoy a cost-effective meal with karaoke singers accompanied.
Mee Siam & Mee Rebus. Enjoyed the ones from Ali Corner #02-17. Gravies were distinctly lighter, more savoury & less sweet, compared to stalls elsewhere. $3 each
Braised duck . When u hv 2 stalls side-by-side, comparisons inevitably surface. While #01-46 offers better value & generous portions , flavour-wise, #01-43 is the superior tasting one
Get the lor mee from Tiong Bahru Lor Mee (#02-80) and shark meat nuggets from 178 Lor Mee (#02-23) respectively. Mix them together, and you get the best of both worlds. Just a suggestion.
Great place for needs esp veg , fish , even coffee powder (Liong Chuan Coffee Powder )Be careful about this fish monger who gets his fish from his Kelong #01-124) as he is dishonest n cheats!
Spoilt for choice here. Tiong Bahru char kway teow not too bad but have to wait quite a bit during peak lunch hours.
Dry U mian ($4.50) Standard preparation from 來發手工面 #02-50. 2 things baffled me. Pay 50-cents more for dry version, and these fried wantan skins with a finger-nail portion of meat filling
A great directory to refer to if you’re unsure what to have <aclass="entity url"rel="nofollow" href="http://tiongbahru.market/"target="_blank" data-sig="S8pOYqbQwaJg12pudZzW39nSAPk=" onmousedown="fourSq.ui.OutgoingLink.mousedown($(this), event)" data-source="tip-text">http://tiongbahru.market/</a>
There's a water cooler on level 2, near the escalators facing the junction of Seng Poh Rd & Lim Liak St
????Hass Avocadoes from Australia at L1 stall. $2 for small ones & $4 for the large ones. They are creamy and good.
Hokkien Mee . The fried prawn noodles from Hong Heng #02-01 was average. It lacks pronounced prawn flavours & fragrance. Even the amount of egg fried into my dish barely made an impression
Kim Fa Fishball noodle #02-65. The fishball noodles are not bad. Noodles are qq. But aunty is really slow to take order and prepare. I waited 15 mins for order of 2 person in the queue. ????
Enjoy an inexpensive meal of steamed rice & preserved pickles at an indoor food stand . As seen on Travel Channel’s The Layover with Anthony Bourdain .
Surprised to find ayam penyet here. Get it from from Ali Corner #02-17. Chilli sauce is spicy ????
#stervylicious #chweekuey - best weekday!! Had Sinful Brekky today but POWER!!! The famous tiong bahru chwee kuey. In short ! Try it - jian bo shui kuey / #02-05...
There's a cashcard top-up machine on level 2, next to lift B. Compatible with MRT & vehicle cashcards
Love 02-16. Super rendang , sambal fish . Brown rice great plus. Sweetest people.
Tiong Bahru Braised duck 02-43 was succulent and the soup to go with it was deep in flavor
The chai po portions are so generous, salty and yummy. Goes so well with the soft rice cakes. Guilty pleasures definitely worth repaying in the gym! - Elizabeth Lee
Best curry rice ever. Try the pork chop, spring, black bean fried fish (if available) and chap chye. - Shannon Low
Top 3 Lor Mee in SG for sure. V gd quality vinegar used gave a slightly sweet fragrance n worked perfectly with gravy n all ingredients. Make sure u enjoy the crisps b4 they softens! #ThomtoriEats - Ian Thomtori
Handmade chee cheong fun at #01-155 is a must try! Especially now that they have new items on the menu. Pig liver, egg, century egg, otah etc - Hui Ling
A fantastic variety of food spanning Asia. Soups, desserts, curry dishes, rice dishes, fish, chicken, beef, pho, Hainan, laksa and much more - Marc
The pork belly meat looks decieving but it's really soft and melts in your mouth! Stall #01-82 must try! - Maureen T
The chocolate kouign amman is perfect with coffee. The regular one is nice too. - joahnna
Four leaves sells nice bread thou a bit costly. And the prices for the deserts and the umi sushi has increased. It's getting more and more exp. - Zara
