Grand Central Terminal New York , NY 10017 United States
'Meet me under the clock '! NYC's most famous clock and a historical structure that has starred in several movies throughout Hollywood history. The GCT clock is valued between 10 - 20 million dollars
The GCT clock has four convex faces, each is made purely of the highest quality precious opal. Behind the faces are lights which give the clock a warm glow and illuminate each of the faces
I have been here many times over the years. Good to see that others appreciate it. Thank you Jackie Kennedy Onnasis for saving Grand Central Station Landmark .
Booth has hidden staircase for workers to descend to breakroom between this level & Lower Dining Concourse. Clock set to ensure accuracy with Naval Observatory in Bethesda, MD.More site info via<LINK> Read more
"Lift your eyes up from the moving hive and you will see time circling under a vault of stars and know just when and where you are". Billy Collins
It's not the "meet me under the clock " clock at Grand Central (that's the Biltmore) but it is a fantastic vantage point for holiday ceiling!
It's a tradition to always check into the clock when I travel to NYC
Every clock at GCT is set by an atomic clock at a naval observatory in Maryland, which makes the accurate to within one second every 1.4 million years.
Gorgeous, and a great place to meet up with people in Grand Central.
The top of the clock is an acorn; the Vanderbilt family symbol "From the acorn grows the mighty oak."
Each of the four clock faces is made from opalescent glass. Reports that they are made from opal and auction house estimates of value at $10-20M are considered an urban legend.
As seen in so many films .
Thank you Jacky Kennedy !
