Central Park (btwn 85th & 96th St) New York , NY 10023 United States
If you want to go for a peaceful run or bike ride , avoid during the weekends - the loop gets packed with tourists and other runners and bikers. Great workout though!
As you're agonizing your way up Cat Hill , be sure to look for the cat statue around E. 74th Street. Also keep an eye out the Central Park Boathouse and the newly renovated Tavern on the Green. Read more
One of my favorite places in New York City ! Note: there is a bathroom adjacent to the Columbus Circle entrance. Make sure you take care of business before heading into the park ; bathrooms are scarce!
Hands down the best 6.1 mile loop in New York City . Rival for best city run in the world in my book . Full of great views , people, and beautiful park . Harlem Hill is a proper climb.
The hills of Central Park ! There are 2 sets: the cat hills ~.25 miles just west of The Met and the Harlem hill ~.8 miles between W96 and the NW corner of the park .
Best place to go out for a run in New York! The full-loop is about 9.5km, and be prepared for some hills ! Very good workout and beautiful view :)
Winner of Best Bike Ride in the Village Voice 2011 Best Of issue! The best time to ride is after 8 PM, when the park is a little less crowded .
The iconic 6.4 mile loop is full of twists & turns, hills & trees , and views of the city .
Join the Nike Running Club . You'll complete the loop on a weekly basis with a group of newfound fitness groupies. Current meetup is on Tuesdays.
Runners, use hand signals. Cyclists & other runners have no idea which way you are trying to go & may run right into you.
Amazing place to run! The view is just perfect
Winner of Best Bike Ride in the Village Voice 2011 Best Of issue! The best time to ride is after 8 PM, when the park is a little less crowded .

Great place to run, bike , people watch , check out the restored historic features.
~6 miles of a pretty (hilly) park run through one of Manhattan's icons
Amazing place for a long run. Almost feels like you are out of the city and so many runners are out as well !
One of my favourite running paths in New York
For those of you who enjoy breaking out your sneaker , iPod and sunglasses hit the pavement and take in the beauty of Central Park .
Beautiful park , a quick getaway from the hustle of the city .
Awesome place to run. Stay in the running lane and watch out for bikes .
Great place to jog but beware of cyclists and tourists going the wrong way.
Get a head start on the crowd and enjoy the amazing scenery! Just be sure to stay hydrated!
Learned to love running outside here. Even when I don't feel like running, I can't help but feel happy in this green retreat in the midst of NYC.
If you turn at West 103rd and repeat the, "Harlem Hill Loop" then turn and repeat the lower loop by turning at east 72nd, you have a 15km lap.
For runners, go before 11 am on weekends or too crowded to enjoy between tourist slow walkers and cyclists.
Lower loop is always crowded with tourists ... It hurts when you run into them on a bike and you don't get any extra points like when you do it while driving.
If you plan to run the loop prepare to fight with the tourists cycling along the running path. Apparently they ignore the cycling path.
My favorite place for rollerblading and jogging
So much better than runnin on a treadmill . Exept. I can't help but stop by the carts that sell roasted nuts lol.
If you're on inline skates , challenge yourself and take on the upper half of the park . It's a steep climb going up, but downhill is a thrill!
Run run run. Be careful because bikers and runners both don't necessarily stay in designated lanes.
Run any direction you want. The running lane is now 2x-wide. But, please, cycle counter clockwise . And clock anyone doing otherwise.
My place of serenity. Running the Path outlining the reservoir loop is my favorite.
Also, for the north side of the park : 110-72 = 5 miles, 110-102 = 1.4 miles. Plus lots of hills !
When you can't escape NYC...escape to Central Park . It's an Oasis in the City !

If you like space and hate tourists , bike before 7am and run before 8am on weekdays, +1 hour for weekends
Cops at every crossing this weekend - did one of the mayor's friends walk in front of a biker again?
