There is a very strong charcoal taste initially but as it goes on the mix of flavours and prawn with lard comes out. Delicious.

The queue can be quite insane, but their Hokkien Mee makes it worthwhile for queuing up. They use Charcoal as a method to cook, that's why their Mee has that smoky fragrance . Very unique taste.

Sengaporean

You can taste the Charcoal fragrance for every mouth. Sambal chili is spicy . More towards the dry type of Hokkien mee and each strand of noodle fully soaked and absorbed in the broth

Gabriel Seah

Best hokkien mee I've had. Full of flavour - stock is great. Prawns are quite fresh. The charcoal fire does make a difference

Bernard Lim

Very smoky , Chao Ta flavour...in a good way. Noodles are not chewy...too soft! Prawns are sweet, and squid fresh! Chili is spicy ! 8/10!

Cheen The Curious

While the chef has 2 helpers, he keeps the cash collection himself, stopping his frying occasionally to hand out change

Cheen The Curious

While the “wok hei “ (smokiness ) is dominant in the dish, it added a bitter aftertaste. Not very pleasant. May need more lime juice to hide/cut through. This is their smallest plate ($8, 4 prawns )

Alvin Chan

don't look like much but tastes just quite the opposite. stop moping around reading reviews and get a plate already.

I’m a huge fan of HKM and I really want to like this store as I love the brother’s stall at East Coast. Quite disappointing for me. Prawns were big but not fresh, stock not fully absorbed. No wok hei .

Lexelle de Charmaine

So famous that they opened a coffeeshop opposite to try to steal business. Tastes the same since hubby ate more than 10 years ago.

Kenneth Wong

Mee was good but order $8 above portion if it's for sharing.

Sandora

I must say prawns are pretty big and fresh! This hokkien mee is not too dry nor wet. Noodles r springy. If that's the way u like, then its worth coming!

Jess baby

Best hokkien mee ever!! Long queue on weekends (include Friday)

Cheen The Curious

At corner with Lorong 29

Helen Ban

been eating since 2004. I must say since 2009, the taste gradually changed for the worst.noodles 2 wet, lacking the 'smoky ' taste...u wouldn't feel the diff compared with any ordinary coffee shop 's
