One of the oldest - and most reputable in Vienna. Venue of Georg Danzer 's famous ' Hawelka song' . Merry Christmas all. taken in November. Latest courtesy of Do&Co Christmas in nearby Stephansplatz
This artist’s café is more – it’s a Viennese institution . Gourmets recognize the Hawelka - especially after 10 pm - by the wonderful smell of Buchteln , yeast buns filled with jam . Read more
After reading other comments, we decided just to get there, order directly two Sacher Torte and an espresso and a chocolate . Delicious, especially the espresso . No credit cards, so take enough cash.
If you want to feel like you just travelled in time, this place is the one. Very beautiful inside, kind staff . Really good coffee . Best when you're trying to hide from the hectic world.
An amazing place to enjoy a great melange on a late winter afternoon. Free wi-fi. For me, the number 1 Kaffeehaus in Vienna.
One of the oldest cafes in Vienna . Amazing atmosphere and great coffee . Highly recommended
Great no-nonsense service and atmosphere, very genuine. Coffee and strudel is delicious, make sure you bring cash as they don't accept card payments.
One of the most famous small coffeshops. Used to be ran for 60 years by Hawelka couple who knew everything about viennese culture and sit & talked 2u but this has changed with younger generation..
Definitely one of the most authentic Viennese cafes . Expect to wait cause it's always crowded ...but totally worth it. Amazing apfelstrudel.
Coffee is great , step back into time ! Can be pricey but worth it , courtyard is a good spot for hangout .
There is no menu and the waiters prefer you to speak in German. That said, if you’re decisive and ask for what you want, my wait happily told me what they had in English and the service was quick.
Buchteln after 22.00 are super! Atmosphere is very friendly and relax. Waiters are nice and helpful. There is no menu, cause everyone should know, why he is here

If you are wandering around the streets of Vienna its a hidden gem , if you are searching for it you already know it;)
Traditions run deep at Cafe Hawelka, no doubt waiters have sometimes an attitude, but in which famous Cafe they don't .. famous Cafe Hawelka one of Austria 's greatest composers sang about ..
Espresso and Americano were excellent. Sacher cake is a must! ????
Cool place, waiter is rude/amusing if you don’t attempt to speak German. No menu you have to walk in and look at blackboard.
I came on a rainy Monday 1.45pm and its stuffed to the brim with Americans and people from around the world lucky to get a chair to sit on
Great place with fantastic Sacher and coffee . They don’t have menu, but actually you don’t need it)
I liked that the hot chocolate was unsweetened and they brought 2 sugar cubes with it (which I didn't use).
The best place to try Viennese strudel . Very atmospheric place. Don't ask for the menu, they do not have it
Awesome atmosphere. Transport yourself to pre-war Vienna while sipping a melange.
A Viennese institution definitely worth a visit for the atmosphere, just not if you're on a budget.
Rather gruff waiters , straightforward good coffee and a dark atmosphere, what more could you want.
There is no menu, but there is a special baked things - buchteln like donuts with jam . It's very delicious, and serve fresh-baked!
Very nice atmosphere, cozy . Delicious Sachertorte.
Buchteln are really great but in general, its way too expensive . We ordered one tea , a melange and buchteln and paid 17€ in total!
Deliciouss buchteln , apfelstrudel is a must to try :)
Espresso is absolutely delicious. If you are coffee lover like me, you won't be disappointed.
Very autentic. Great atmosphere and apple pie !
To feel dust of good memories of the city ,also to taste local desserts .
Hot chocolate they prepared was just water with some chocolate . But they make very tasty strüdels .
Chocolate cake and coffee is good. Old and local place. Prices are normal.
Great atmosphere, and delicious cafe melange . The service is a bit slow if youre sitting outside.
The atmosphere is quite unique and sets it apart from the "classic" cafés such as Landtmann or Central
Cool place, waiter is rude/amusing if you don’t attempt to speak German. No menu you have to walk in and look at blackboard.
Very cool spot, classic vibe with an interesting mix of people. In my experience the waiters were nothing but friendly .
Cool comfy place for a drink and chat with friends. Dark beer is a good choice.
The oldest cafe in Vienna still conserves it's typical mood. Don't forget to leave a tip or they'll get mad at you...
They maybe one of the famous cafe in Vienna but it shouldn't mean that they can have a right to be so unfriendly. If you had enough sales for a while, close your store. And they had no specialties ????
This cafe has a very warm atmosphere. Good stop for a coffee .
Must visit when in Vienna. Classic place with an old atmosphere.
Coffee , strudel , lots of tourists and waiters speak English
Unique coffee house , unique atmosphere at night, unique service (of its kind) ;-)
All kinds of people, but more special for the tourit feeling!
Do not ask for the menu, it is on the wall, written by chalk on a small blackboard. Rude and unfriendly staff . Buchteln mit Powidl for 10 €. Not worth the price thanks to outdated interior and waiters
If you ever come to Vienna you defenitely have to visit that place and have a cup of coffee !
The atmosphere of 100+ years old café is still there. Outstanding experience.
I got a Sacher Torte and a hot chocolate . The waiters were NOT rude at all (as many in the comments say), but maybe that's because I speak German pretty well . Photo = € 9, ok for Vienna
Peaceful , historical, tasty cafe in Vienna ! I love there! :)
Lovely outdoor seating! Scrumptious eggs and ham—don’t forget to ask for a few rolls and butter with breakfast. - Nicholas
Nice location, delicious cakes and coffee. There's even turkish coffee in the menu! - Evren Akgül

Breathtaking cathedral in the center of Vienna. Free entrance. Definitely worth a visit. - Amaury J
