Visit during the day--there are tours that stop here in the evening, but the lighting is really not sufficient to appreciate the Memorial after dusk.
Really like the design of this memorial. Plantings along the top make it feel framed by nature, spaces to gather, meandering flow, inspirational quotes , space to gather.
Expansive memorial with many tributes to all FDR did over three terms. Incredible quotes all along the way that still resonate today.
One of my favorite memorials on the mall , largely because of the tranquil water features .
7.5 acre four room open memorial along the Tidal Basin in between the MLK memorial and Jefferson memorial. Each room tells a story of each term he was elected
The waterfalls in each section represent the nature of each of FDR's terms, from chaotic to calm . This memorial is so underrated!
An incredible place! Very strong emotions! Eternal memory to the great man!
Try to go at an off hour, if you don't want a photo with a bunch of strangers in it (like this one, lol) Although I didn't mind too much - these were sweet giggly girls. :)
A hidden gem of a monument . Not the most popular, but perhaps the most pleasant to visit, especially during cherry blossom season.
Room Four “Seeds of Peace ” (1944-1945). Statue pays tribute to the former first lady, Eleanor Roosevelt. This work was the first public artwork to honor a First Lady. Full site history via<LINK> Read more
Handles the Roosevelt presidency well . It’s just a shame the fountains aren’t working at the moment (Aug 2018) as it reduces the impact.

This is an under-appreciated gem of a monument , and kids love it because there are lots of fountains and rocks to climb on.
The falling water adds to your experience through feeling and sound. The water is still at Roosevelt's death and tumultuous during wartime.

Every text and statue symbolizes a different aspect of the FDR legacy. If you want to truly experience DC and FDR, read before visiting.
Chat with the Rangers. They really know their stuff. Also, this is a great "hidden" site to impress your non-DC friends.

Sad to see how many visitors - wink, wink millennials - don't understand the monument depicting how impoverished we were, and decide to pose smiling with the statues of those in the food line .
Room One is titled “The Early Years” and focuses on Roosevelt’s first term from 1932-1936. Along south wall is 30' bas relief by Robert Graham titled The First Inaugural. Full site history via<LINK> Read more

Stroll round the water’s edge taking in the monuments and memorials. The FDR Memorial is a must-see. Alternatively, rent a paddleboat (tidalbasinpaddleboats.com) or do a Potomac River cruise .
Appreciated FDR contribution more to the US after going through this memorial.
Nice memorial that reminds us of all the work that needs to be done to make America truly equitable.
This is the most surprising, and all encompassing Memorial at The Mall . It's a little off the beaten path but it's worth the trip.
More of a park than a monument . Bring a book and stay awhile.
Water features galore - totally tranquil space. Especially awesome when lit at night/dusk.
Great memorial to see at sunset ! By far, my favorite memorial along with Lincoln.
One of TeamTRI's favorite places. Ride your bike . Run. Walk. Enjoy chilling and learning about this amazing President and Founder of the March of Dimes.
The newer FDR memorial in DC . The original monument can be found on Pennsylvania Avenue between the Capitol and the White House.
Do not miss this. The epic memorial is probably the most moving memorial in DC .
Big monument , take some time to read all the signs.
Definitely the best memorial in DC . Sculptures , waterfalls , evocative quotes ... A fitting tribute to the man who brought this country out of the Great Depression.

Take the time to visit this one. It's beautifully done
Ask yourself if the current leaders of our country have the same love of our country 's REAL core values as FDR once did.
You can find this cool memorial just to the left of honest Abe!

No matter how many times, it still holds a special place for me.
