Established in 1907 as a men’s bar with design by Henry Hardenbergh. Closed during Prohibition and re-opened in 1934 as full restaurant . The wood-paneled walls and barrel-vaulted ceiling remain today.
This iconic Upper East Side hang-out dates back to the turn of the century, hosting greats like Dorothy Parker for lunch and drinks before going cabaret in 1938.

Is the Oak Bar ever re-opening? It was closed when I visited in January 2016 and is still closed. Renovations can't take this long. Much be management/labor problems.
