El Matador State Beach is a beach Malibu Los Angeles County located in United States.
32215 Pacific Coast Hwy (at El Matador Beach Rd.) Malibu , CA 90265 United States
This is the most beautiful beach I've been to in the U.S. Worth the short hike : 10 min down 20 up mostly stairs. No bathroom by the beach but there are portapottys in the parking lot . Be warned.
This is a beautiful beach ! Lots of scenic rock formations and the water is so blue and beautiful. There's 2 sets of stairs that lead you down to the shore from the top. It's not too terrible a hike .
This beach is one of the most romantic I've been to. Filled with grottoes and rocks that meet the ocean where the waves crash, and allow you to take in the breath-taking scenery.
Beautiful sunsets . Great place for photo shoots, which makes it crowded during weekends with a lot of just-married couples. Amazing Rock formations . Must see while in LA or around.
Beautiful place. It's quite a climb though so be Leopard. A lot of people come here so it gets crowded too. Portalets are on top so make sure you empty up before going down.
Make sure you go when there's a sunset . The way the sun set is breathtaking, the views are beautiful, and there will be many couples doing wedding photos. Bring a jacket , it does get chilly.
Sea stacks, hidden coves and, since there’s just a rocky path down to the shore , not a lot of crowds. Three words: Sunset Champagne toast . Read more
Doing plyometrics on a soft surface like El Matador Beach strengthens the body’s stabilizing muscles and improves reaction time. This translates to gains when you run and jump on a firmer surface. Read more
One of LA’s most romantic beaches , this secluded pocket beach , located 10 miles northwest of Malibu, showcases some of the coast's most breathtaking rock formations .
My wife and I would visit all the time before we got so busy. Quiet and not too busy. We got popped once for bringing our dogs onto the beach so be careful if you bring Fido- Jay, In the Big House
Bypass Zuma Beach for this serene stretch tucked behind the cliffs. It’s a hike to the water but breathtaking rock formations and lack of people are worth it. Bring a jacket and $8 to park .

Be sure to wear sturdy sandals when visiting this remote location as it requires a bit of foot work down a sandy steep path. The sea caves and rock formations , however are absolutely worth the trek.

Rocks and grottoes make it an interesting, photogenic beach . Nice for a romantic stroll and pic snapping.
Not as busy as other socal beaches . Don't be shocked to see a sealion or two. They like the beach too and come on shore to sun.
Gorgeous rocks and caves on a beautiful stretch of Malibu beach . Sunsets bring crowds and every wedding photographer in LA.
Beautiful scenery . This is a much better place to visit than Zuma Beach .
Beautiful beach ! Came here with the Rainbow Girls of San Fernando Valley (volunteer girls club for ages 8-20) to clean the beach through Heal the Bay .
I'm still in love for this beach . Sometimes on weekends in the summer the beach is full.
Small secluded beach w cool rock formations .
Beautiful beautiful beautiful. Make sure to capture the sunset
Amazing! So beautiful. Truly a heaven.
One of the most beautiful places I have been in life.
You can't miss the sunset at El Matador!
Just up the way from Zuma, but if you can find parking it's beautiful views and not as crowded
Did maternity photography there and the pictures turned out sooo good ❤️
Crowded for sunset , but one of the most photogenic beaches in LA.
Great scenery!
Gorgeous cliffs; euro vibe
Make sure you get your camera !

Love this beach :)
Crashing waves. Cool sand. Afternoon sun casting sidelong rays.
View is gorgeous :)
Park on the street to avoid the $8 lot fee!
Great for photo shorting
Best sunsets
Great beach ! Scary steps!
Breathtaking beach ...
8 bucks all day parking
Look out for porpoises!
Website indicates they are dog friendly . They are NOT. Leo Carillo is, 3 miles north...
Best beach ever!!! ❤️ very quite :)
Отстой!!!!!
Fantastic hiking trail and a small lake to go swimming - Hillary Gadsby
Beautiful hiking at any time but I highly recommend a weekday if you can swing it. You'll have the trails practically to yourself. - @sloane
Lots of people when we did this on MLK Day (a very “LA” crowd, too!). Nice loop with interesting sights. The Sunrise Trail part of the loop seemed to be less crowded. Baby & kid friendly! - Leah Boyer
Awesome beach! Not too crowded, excellent surf/wave conditions, super soft sand...perfect! Only complaint would be parking. - Human Tripod
Came here since we couldn’t find parking near pier. Nice views and beautiful walk. Parking not badly priced and we still could walk down to the pier. Lots of cool birds. - K.b. Hess
Everything is good here. Best Seafood I have had since I moved to Cali - Keith Barkley
Loved the grilled mahi mahi tuna and the steamed shrimps and veggies! - Marianna Fierro
Worth the short hike. Be sure to check out the tide pools! - Nick Mattera
