The view is much closer from the back (aka the northern side) but access is typically restricted back there during the day. They open it up at night sometimes so take advantage when they do.

If you can get into the White House, this is where you enter

TONS of squirrels to chase .... just inside the gates

Try not to fly any drones too close to the lawn, the guards frown upon that.

Ask the park rangers in the gardens for presidential stories.

Make sure you have a good ID. If not it could be a long wait .
